The Rev. Armand Mercier is our Rector. Fr. Armand was born and raised in Edmonton as a Roman Catholic. Fr. Armand worked in the automotive sector after completing his Bachelor’s of Commerce degree at the University of Alberta. He then answered the call in 2003 to enter into Religious life, specifically the Order of Friars Minor, better known as the Franciscans, in 2003. While there he completed both a Master of Divinity and Master of Theology at Newman Theological College in Edmonton, and was ordained a Deacon in 2008. Life took an unexpected turn for him when he met and fell in love with a beautiful and spectacular woman by the name of Carol, and he realized that God was not just calling him to Ministry but also into marriage and family life. The result was that he and his wife journeyed into the Anglican Church in 2011. In 2012 they became members of St. Stephen’s and he took on the role as Deacon here. In 2014 he received his Priestly ordination, and became our Rector in May 2016.
Fr. Armand has worked since 2010 with Habitat for Humanity Edmonton, where he is the Director of Family Services. He and Carol have two young sons: Benoît and Étienne.
