Each Sunday morning, a short since is held in the Lady Chapel at 9am. This service is called Matins, and is also known as Morning Prayer. This is a shorted version of Morning Prayer taken from the Book of Common Prayer, an consists of:

  • The opening Preces "O Lord, open thou our lips ...",
  • An Invitatory, which is usually Psalm 95,
  • The Psalms appointed for the day,
  • The First Lesson, which is taken from the Old Testament,
  • A Canticle, which is normally the Te deum,
  • The Second Lesson, which is taken from the New Testament, and
  • Another Canticle, which is normally the Benedictus, followed by
  • A Marian Devotion, such as the Angelus.
