Holy Week is the week of Easter, and concentrates on the Passion of Christ. It begins with the Sunday before Easter, better known as Palm Sunday.

Special services are held during this week:

  • On Palm Sunday, we celebrate Christ's Entry into Jerusalem with a procession of palm leaves,
  • On Maundy Thursday, we celebrate the Last Supper and Christ's instructions to his Disciples,
  • On Good Friday, we remember the Passion of Christ upon the Cross, and
  • On the evening of Holy Saturday, we celebrate the Great Vigil of Easter.

The Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of Holy Week also have special services appointed.

Red vestments and paraments are used on Palm Sunday. Either Red or Purple may be used on the Monday through Thursday, however, if the Maundy Thursday service is held in the evening then White will be used. Black is used on Good Friday.
